Chess (Webster) Gr. 3-5

Grades 3 - 5

Students will learn about the basic principles of chess strategy and the process of planning a move. We will start our work with basic check mate patterns. Then, we will move towards basic understanding of endgame and basic tactics (double attacks, pins, forks, etc.). Students will keep track of all played games and will learn how to analyze and improve these games. Chess will help students to develop their capacity to focus and to be creative. The skills students learn to improve their chess game will also apply to their life beyond this class. Taught by Ariel Arjona-Hernandez.
