This class is the final class in a series of four classes that will have introduced or reacquainted you with African American artists from various periods in American art history. You need not have attended the first three to join us. We will examine four periods: Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century; Harlem Renaissance and the WPA period; Early Contemporary from 1950, which includes Post-Modernism and the Black Art Movement; and Contemporary since 1980.NOTE: The title of this class was listed incorrectly in some printed materials. Suzanne Roberts is the Art Historian for Obsidian Arts and specializes in American art, especially the art created by African Americans. Ms. Roberts has taught art history classes for over twenty years at art institutions including the Minneapolis Institute of Art, Intermedia Arts and the City of Minneapolis Public Art Department. She attended the University of Minnesota.
