Could you rewrite the ending to Three Little Pigs if the Goldilocks enters the story? Could you build a bridge to hold a toy car only made out of paper clips? In Destination Imagination (DI), we'll work together in teams to solve open-ended STEAM challenges designed to teach the creative process. We will have fun, ask questions, think about problems, come up with solutions, learn from failure, and celebrate their achievements. In going through this process, kids learn vital life and career skills—creative thinking, critical thinking, collaborative problem-solving—that help them feel empowered and set them up for success in their future. Community Education uses a sliding scale model for program fees so our afterschool programs can be financially sustainable and more equitable. Families are asked to pick the price that they are able to pay. By more clearly articulating our lower cost options, we have removed the barrier that some may have felt in making scholarship requests. When families participate at the higher price levels, they help make the program more sustainable. Extended Learning (ALC) classes are free.
