Imagine what the collective creativity of a room full of young people might develop when tasked with collaboratively creating a play? In this class, students are led through visual arts, movement, and other arts entry points with the end goal of creating an imaginative show that’s all their own. Participants will explore the magic of theater through theater games, acting exercises, and character design. They will have the opportunity to step into the shoes (or, rather, glass slippers) of their favorite fairytale characters, and to create an imaginative show that’s all their own. In the final session the world premiere is staged and performed by CLIMB theatre professional actors (and willing participants from your family). Strong reading or writing skills are not a requirement... only your imagination! Limit 20.
This class is for students in 4th and 5th grade.
Community Education uses a sliding scale model for program fees so our afterschool programs can be financially sustainable and more equitable. Families are asked to pick the price that they are able to pay. By more clearly articulating our lower cost options, we have removed the barrier that some may have felt in making scholarship requests. When families participate at the higher price levels, they help make the program more sustainable. Extended Learning (ALC) classes are free.
