Cahoots for rising Kindergartners is a 6-week summer correspondence program designed to prepare our new students with an engaging, reflective approach to learning. Participants complete their work at their own pace at home. Youth who follow the schedule and complete all weekly correspondence are invited to participate in a field trip in August. New this summer - there is one workbook instead of two and youth complete one card per week. How the Cahoots program works: Workbook and reflection postcards will be delivered to schools or mailed to registered families by June 1st
Program weeks are June 10th -August 2nd. Youth complete one lesson in their workbook per week. Lessons are approximately 20 questions long.
Families or youth check their own answers online (answer packets can be mailed by request)
After completing each lesson, youth complete one of the reflection postcards and mail it to our Community Education Office.
Reflection postcards are designed to give youth a chance to apply their skills through open-ended questions. Youth are paired with a Reflection Buddy who sends back a postcard each week.
Game Boards are located on the back cover of each workbook. A game piece will be found on each reflection response from your child’s Reflection Buddy. Your child can track their progress by cutting out the game pieces and gluing them to the board.
Youth who are on track to complete all 6 reflections qualify to go on a free group field trip in August.
Cost:The cost for Language Arts and Math entering Kindergarten is $35. Reduced and free lunch rates are available.
