Make the most of your most important meal of the day by learning recipes for pastries, pancakes, flaky French croissants, Belgian waffles, Norwegian gjestost with jam, Costa Rican gallo pinto or Japanese miso soup with tomagoyaki. Students will need access to basic kitchen cookware like pots and pans, baking sheets, mixing bowls, measuring cups and spoons, a hand or electric mixer, oven mitts, etc. Students may need to use stove-top burner, range oven and microwave as well as chop and dice ingredients to fully participate. Assistance from parents, older siblings, nanny's or others is encouraged if needed. We will assemble prepackaged individually portioned ingredients that you can pick up between 12:00pm and 2:00pm the Friday before class or between 8:00am-9:00am the Monday of class, from Southwest High School: 3414 West 47th St. Expect to have some pantry-staples on-hand like salt and pepper, basic spices, flour, baking powder, vegetable oil, cooking spray, etc. Complete supply lists and recipes will be shared the Friday before class begins. Some materials provided may be in excess for what will be used in class due to the minimum quantity available at the store. Class fee includes provided materials. Registration is per person, even if cooking in the same household. This class will take place online through Google Meet. The link to join will be emailed the Friday before class begins. Students must follow class expectations to participate.
