  • Batik and Tie Dye (Roosevelt 55+)

Batik is a process of applying hot wax to fabric and then dipping it into dye. The waxed areas resist the dye making an image in the cloth. When we repeat this in the second and third sessions, the design becomes more colorful and more interesting. Our 3rd Batik session will be for removing the wax by ironing the fabric between papers. In our 4th session we will tie dye. Cotton dish cloths will be provided, and/or you may also bring 100% cotton t shirts, etc. Held at McRae Park Community Center 906 E 47th St
