ACCESS - Noticing Nature on Snowshoes (Roosevelt 55+)
Looking to try something different? Practice two new skills in one fun class! Strap on a pair of snowshoes and take a peaceful hike through the park with a naturalist guide to hone your nature observation abilities. Become grounded in nature while appreciating its ever-changing elements along our prairie, woodland, and river trails! Learn how to use a dichotomous key and try identifying trees in the winter by comparing the different features. Discover adaptations Minnesota trees use to survive during the cold winters. Introduction to Animal Tracking (Roosevelt 55+)
Join Bill Kass, a member of the MN Tracking Club with certification in Track and Sign and Trailing in the US and Africa, to learn about how to find evidence of and identify animals, birds, and insects that make the Mississippi Regional Park their home. The only facility of its kind in Minnesota, the Communication Center began in 1953 as a public/private partnership with the State of Minnesota providing braille and audio transcription services.
