This camp has several offerings including a 1 week, all gender basketball camp hosted by Hip Hoopz; Sew Creative, a 1 week sewing workshop where teens will learn basic machine sewing techniques and create their own designs; Music Explorations where teens will have two weeks to hone their skills playing live instruments; Exploring our Communities, a 2 week workshop where students will attend field trips that critically explore and analyze their community; and Food & Wellness a 2week offering where students will learn about our food systems, garden and prepare fresh meals each day. The camp is a program of engaging fun, hands on activities that cultivate joy, laughter and learning. The program has a cultural and social component that highlights empowering community awareness and participant’s self confidence. Northside United Summer Band Camp aims to provide Northside students with a culturally relevant music opportunity. 5th-12th grade students of all playing and dancing levels have the opportunity to learn Historically Black College & University Marching Band Style called Show-style. Students DO NOT have to know how to play an instrument or know how to dance as they will be taught. If students need an instrument, one will be provided. Cityview's Reach for the Stars Part 2 summer camp is an excellent opportunity for our young geniuses to continue the exploration of their greatness through reading, cooking, arts and crafts and teamwork games classes. Henry High is starting the process of changing our school name. This summer camp will be learning about marketing, campaigning, organizing, and the history of the Northside, and what is needed when changing a school name. Everything we do in camp will be working towards Henry being one step closer to changing our name. Some opportunities will be paid.
