    Ready to fly? Experience the Birds of Minnesota with Hale's art teacher, Ms. Meg! Our students swan-dive into a world of discovery through hands-on, minds-on learning. We use a project-based and problem-based approach that seamlessly integrates literacy, art, and math skills, making learning more dynamic and fun! Spark your child’s imagination with a joyful blend of reading, storytelling, and hands-on art! In this engaging afterschool program, young learners explore books, build early literacy skills, and bring stories to life through creative projects. Perfect for curious minds and budding artists, it’s a fun, supportive space where learning and creativity shine together. Spring 2026- Spring brings sunshine and so many new birds to explore! Students will enjoy sweet springtime stories, rhyming read alouds, and simple writing prompts as they learn about nests, eggs, and migrating songbirds. Art projects will bloom with nature-made nests, bright robin paintings, and colorful bird masks ready for pretend play. It’s a happy, hands-on season that celebrates reading, creativity, and the excitement of spring! NOTE: This class is now run through Community Ed and has a fee. The class fees may look larger since this class runs both Mondays AND Wednesdays, compared to our other class offerings that are either Monday or Wednesday. As always, email the coordinator if you require a scholarship of any kind. We will not turn away anyone who is unable to pay. We're moving to a sliding scale model for program fees so our youth programs can be financially sustainable and more equitable. The different prices reflect the average cost of offering a class as well as discounted options and options that help us cover our administrative costs. Fees cover instructor pay, class supplies, program materials, marketing and scholarships. The actual cost of the class is the first listed however, families are asked to pick the price that they are able to pay. As always, we will continue to offer full scholarships upon request.     Join fellow chess enthusiasts to level up your play. Work with Dave (field chess teacher) to learn to play or learn and practice new strategies for Chess. Gain confidence in your chess game and represent Justice Page at City-wide chess tournaments. Students and families register for tournaments individually.     Join us for an after-school program that mixes real life skills with real fun! This isn't your typical program. Think basketball, arts & crafts, team challenges, and creative activities that keep you moving while learning. We will cover topics that matter like friendship, confidence, communication and healthy choices, all in a safe and supportive space. Come and hang out, build new skills and discover how to handle life's challenges while having fun. This group is led by YWCA Contact Plus and is paid for by a grant.

    Cooking Lab: Delicious and Sweet (Grades 2-5)

    In this after-school class students will make exciting, kid-friendly recipes inspired by delicious recipes. Students will mix, measure, create, and taste delicious snacks and treats. Along the way, they’ll learn cooking skills, kitchen safety, and how to work together as a team. Every class is about having fun, being creative, and enjoying the food they make in class!   • Craft Club - Unified (Sanford)

    Join Craft Club, a fun and inclusive creative space where students of all abilities come together to make art, learn new skills, and build friendships. This club is partnered with Unified through Special Olympics of Minnesota, celebrating inclusion and teamwork through hands-on projects and creative expression. Special Olympics Unified Schools is an education and sports based strategy powered by an engaged student community that increases athletic and leadership opportunities for students with and without intellectual disabilities. It is a strategy to activate youth, engage educators, and promote school communities of acceptance and inclusion where all young people are agents of change. The three components of Unified Schools include Inclusive Youth Leadership, Unified Sports, and Whole School Engagement. All three areas are crucial to shift the culture of a school towards inclusion. 1. Inclusive Youth Leadership: An opportunity for youth voices to be heard through engaging together with meaningful relationships. 2. Unified Sports: A combination of special education students and general education students that participate in inclusive sporting opportunities. 3. Whole School Engagement: Bullying prevention and inclusive promotion initiatives that reach entire school populations through engaging, inspiring and optimistic events.

Projects include making special friendship bracelets, lanyards, and art with modeling clay, tissue paper and more. Instructor: Ellie Christman This class is offered on more than one day. Students should only be registered for one class per session. Each class takes place for six weeks.     Important Community Education Update — Please Read Beginning with the Winter and Spring sessions, Community Education classes will include a sliding-scale fee, with options starting as low as $0. These contributions are vital to sustaining our after-school programs at Loring. We kindly and strongly encourage families to give what they can—every dollar directly supports our students, our staff, and the continuation of these meaningful programs. Your contribution truly makes a difference. For families with students currently enrolled, a donation link will go live with online registration on Friday, December 19th. Your generosity helps ensure that Loring Leaders and other after-school opportunities remain available for all students.     Dungeons & Dragons Tabletop Gaming with WyldWolf Games (Grades 4-5)

    Join a professional Game Master as you learn how to build a Dungeons and Dragons character, and then set out on your Adventures! Students will go on adventures guided by their imagination and their instructor while learning critical thinking, teamwork, roleplay, and puzzle-solving skills.     Dungeons and Dragons with Wyldwolf Adventure Studios. Dungeon masters will run two all level campaigns. Students will do everything from character creation, learning rules, and then taking your character into an adventure. Use creative ideas and collaborative story telling to go on an adventure with your friends.

    In our new Fashion Design Club, students in grades 2–5 will explore a world of fashion and fun! Each week we'll make a new project that focuses on, recycled fashion pieces, colorful patterns. or runway trends, while learning creativity, confidence, and personal style. No sewing experience needed! On the last day of spring session, we will put on a fashion show for parents and families. Come join the fun!     Design Teacher Mx. Carlson, brings you this fun and techy after-school club built for students who love to fix, tinker and play. Students will learn to repair phones, take small machines apart and figure out how to put them back together, learn and use 3D printers and more! Fast-paced, fun, and open to all skill levels, this club is the perfect place to build your footwork, teamwork, and confidence. Whether you're new to the game or already skilled on the court, you'll learn new techniques, play exciting matches, and develop your game.
