Flash Memoir (Lake Harriet Upper)

Adult Enrichment / Writing -
Adult Enrichment Spring 2024

Want to share some life stories, but not sure how to make them come alive in print?  Students will  learn how to take a life experience and turn it into a story that others can appreciate and learn from. Brainstorm, plan, create rough drafts, and finish something you are proud to share. You also will learn how to listen to/read the stories of others and respond with curiosity, empathy, generosity.

Shannon Puechner

instructor

Shannon Puechner has been a literacy educator for over 20 years in high school and university settings. For many years, Shannon has taught outside of the classroom in writing centers, coaching adolescent and adult writers to powerfully articulate their ideas in their own voice. She's been particularly inspired by the transformative journey of young people as they write short reflective personal essays for college entrance or scholarship essays. Based on these experiences, Shannon was inspired to create the flash memoir class, providing an opportunity for adults to turn mere memories into powerful stories that can transform the lives of the writers and their readers.
