A Crash in Midair: State Department Negotiations (Hale)Adventures in LearningOn April 1, 2000, a Chinese fighter jet and an American reconnaissance plane crashed in midair near Hainan Island. Foreign Service Officer Mark Canning was sent to Hainan to negotiate the release of the American crew and plane. Starting SoonArchitect Avenue History (Hale)Adventures in LearningThe beautiful old houses on Architect Avenue in northeast Minneapolis began with a contest in 1905. The challenge was to design a cottage that could be built for $1,500 that would combine elegance, utility and affordability. Today all six homes still exist on this quiet corner of Hennepin County. Join urban historian, Kathy Kullberg, to learn about the six architects, their house designs and the final outcome of the competition. This class is now being held online through Zoom, an interactive videoconferencing platform. You can choose to enable your camera and audio, or just view the live content. There will be time to socialize with fellow students and the instructor if you choose to, before and after each session.
