Go fly fishing with Derrick Hanson from "Fish the Driftless"! This class is designed for people who have taken the Fly Fishing Intro course and are looking for more time on the water to practice and learn. Think of this class as an “assisted” fly fishing experience. The course will be spent entirely in the water. Here you’ll have a chance to work on your casting, read the water, select flies, tie your knots, and work towards achieving the perfect drifts to catch trout! The location will be different from the intro course so you’ll have the chance to explore a new river. Waders, boots, gear, and flies are provided. Taking the intro class is not a requirement, but some experience is necessary.
Location: Southeast Minnesota, approximately one-hour drive from Twin Cities (exact location will be communicated to students prior to event).
Cost Per Person: $175 (plus $24 Minnesota resident one-day fishing license and trout stamp)
NOTE: Space is limited to four participants.
If class is full, please enroll for the waitlist. We will contact you if a space becomes available.
Derrick is a life long angler. After a twenty year successful career in the world of corporate America, he traded in his suit and tie for waders and boots. Although he’s never said no to fishing of any kind, his true passion is fishing for trout on the many streams across the WI/MN Driftless region. Derrick loves sharing his passion for fishing and is a patient teacher– a skill perfected over innumerable fishing adventures with his two young daughters.
Derrick is both Wilderness First Aid and CPR/AED Certified.
