  • After School Youth Classes

    Our programs serve youth in grades K-12 at Minneapolis Public School locations across the city to ensure all students have access to high quality programs. Community Education Youth Programs deliver a wide range of high-quality enrichment learning opportunities during out of school time (afterschool, release days, and summer). Community Education offerings support youth to develop strong peer relationships and foster new skills, through our intentional program design that fosters cultural identity, youth voice and leadership. In order to ensure that our high-quality enrichment classes are accessible to all families, Minneapolis Community Education is now offering fees on a sliding scale.     Driver's Education-Teens

    State-required classroom instruction that will prepare you for your permit test. 30-hour classes are offered after school and during the mornings and afternoons in the summer. Behind-the-wheel lessons are arranged and paid for separately. All prices are listed on a sliding fee scale. Contact the Community Education Youth & Adult Programs staff at your high school for schedules of upcoming classes.
  • Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)

    ECFE offers classes, programs and services for families with young children from birth to kindergarten age. Our licensed early childhood educator partners with you to offer meaningful and fun learning opportunities for your child. During classes, parents and children participate together in group time and activities; followed by a parent discussion facilitated by a licensed parent educator, who brings research-based parenting information into the conversation.

    ​Give the gift of learning. Gift vouchers can be purchased in a variety of denominations and can be used for most Community Education Youth & Adult Enrichment classes. Some restrictions apply.

    Registration seasons currently open: Summer 2025 Minneapolis Kids Jr 2025-26 Any sites not listed are full with waitlists that are closed. Some sites may show that specific days or components (before, after school) are full, though you're still welcome to register for those days/components and be invited to the waitlist. Please allow 10 business days for processing new registrations (including non-school days). If we have to contact you to make corrections to your registration(s), you can expect up to an additional 10 business days for processing. 2024-25 Non-School Day Calendar Summer 2025 Entering grades K-7 Summer 2025 registration is now open.   • Summer Youth CE Programs & Camps

    Classes for Summer Youth Programs will be visible and open for registration Sunday, February 23 at 5pm. Morning and afternoon options around the city will begin June 23, 2025. Community Education offers a sliding scale model for program fees so our summer programs can be financially sustainable and more equitable. The different prices reflect the average cost of offering a camp as well as discounted options and options that help us cover our administrative costs. Families are asked to pick the price that they are able to pay. We hope you can join us!
