  • "Dinner for One" at The Jungle Theater (Southwest)

    Inspired by an iconic slapstick comedy sketch and New Year’s Eve tradition in Europe for over 60 years, DINNER FOR ONE tells the story of a butler helping his employer celebrate her annual dinner party. Unpredictable mishaps and a little too much wine result in a hilarious evening full of physical comedy, music, and human connection. Returning for a second year, this production is a hilarious and heartfelt celebration of love, loss, found family, and live music. The play is created in collaboration with local theater stars Christina Baldwin, Sun Mee Chomet, Jim Lichtscheidl, and musician Emilia Mettenbrink.   • "The Railroads That Changed Minneapolis" Walking Tour (Southwest)

    Four major national rail lines met and ran through downtown Minneapolis at the height of the flour milling era, building the city into a true metropolis. Who were the Rail Barons of these lines? How did these rails shape our city? What are spur lines and where did they run? Visit the sites of those lines crossing the Stone Arch Bridge or running along 2nd St. and delivering passengers to two major depots on this walking tour of 1 ½ hours. Meet at the Chicago Mall on 2nd St. and Chicago between the Guthrie and the Mill City Museum. The walk is about a mile in distance and will be done rain or shine. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters en route to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil’s former army commander. With a dazzling score featuring well-known standards including “Blue Skies,” “I Love A Piano,” “How Deep Is the Ocean” and the perennial title song, White Christmas is an uplifting, wholesome musical that will delight audiences of all ages.     We will be looking for art outside and be creating art outside too! Create temporary art like mandalas made with things we find in nature, an art installation that can we can all enjoy outside this summer, and some fun projects to take home. Grades are the year your student will be entering in the fall of 2024. A lunch is available to all students. Please select this option when you register. Would you like a full day option?     Welcome to a learning experience that will take you on an in depth learning journey that focuses on self love, self care, and understanding. Throughout this 7 week experience, scholars will complete an in depth series of learning about cosmetology that incorporates history, self reflection, awareness, confidence, project management, time management, creativity, and self care.

    This is a non separating class (child and parent spend the entire class together). Join us for yoga and songs with your baby and a discussion on supporting your infant’s development through movement.
  • Babysitting (American Red Cross) (Entering Grades 6-8)

    Put together a creative babysitting kit and learn what kinds of games and activities are appropriate for specific ages. Practice and test on accident and emergency preparedness. You must be 11 years old by the end of class and pass a skills test to receive certificate.
  • Babysitting: American Red Cross 11+ (Entering Gr. 6-9)

    Learn about leadership, safety, basic first aid and child development from a professional. Figure out what to do in an emergency and learn new activities to do with children. You will walk away with a babysitter's pack that includes everything you need to start your babysitting business. You will also gain hands-on experience caring for younger children. You must be 11 years old by the end of class and pass a skills test to receive the certificate. This class does not include CPR.
