The projects will help develop problem solving skills, refine motor skills, and build confidence. This class will offer a variety of art projects including painting, collages, drawing, and mixed media.     Bodies, Relationships & Consent for Female Identifying & Non-Binary Students (Grades 4-5)

    January 8th-February 29th (No class 2/19-2/20, 7 sessions) Learning about good communication, safety in relationships, and growth and development lays a foundation that can support healthy relationships and healthy behaviors throughout a person’s life. This class will focus on age-appropriate and medically accurate topics like puberty, reproduction, consent, and communication skills. Limit 15. This class is for students who identify as female or are non-binary. About the instructor: Jill Farris, MPH, is a LNCS parent and Director of Adolescent Sexual Health Training & Education at the University of Minnesota Healthy Youth Development Prevention Research Center. Jill provides training and capacity building assistance to youth workers in a variety of settings, as well as helping parents have open and honest dialogue with their children. Jill also teaches middle school sexuality education at First Universalist Church of Minneapolis.     Dungeons & Dragons Tabletop Gaming with BadWolf Studios (Grades 4-5)

    Join a professional Game Master as you learn how to build a Dungeons and Dragons character, and then set out on your Adventures! Students will go on adventures guided by their imagination and their instructor while learning critical thinking, teamwork, roleplay, and puzzle-solving skills.   • Gym Games with Active Solutions (Grades 2-5)

    Wenonah Physical Education Teacher Mr. Pritchard has taken the best of Physical Education and created an after school Indoor Physical Education class your child will never forget. Your child(ren) will experience 3-4 different activities during each session. Activities include lifelong sport, recreation and fitness, most all individual and team sports, rope jumping, racket games, track and field, kickball, tag games, ultimate frisbee, capture the flag, frisbee golf, four square, floor hockey, bowling, volleyball, lord of the rings, pin guard, tangle town, mini mighty stations, pits and allies, Danish baseball and many others. Walking field trips may include hiking along Minneapolis Parks trails to Lake Nokomis. This class is perfect for the child that needs more movement in their lives! Lessons are designed to keep kids engaged in learning activities and to keep their heart rates elevated. Character building, cooperative skills, individual success and safety are all emphasized.     Gym Games: Teamwork and Sportsmanship with Mr. Cam & Mr. Henry (Grades 2-5)

    Playing team games is an active and fun way to build leadership, cooperation and determination. This class is all about teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun in various gym games. Keep moving with high-energy games, such as dodgeball, capture the flag, kickball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, and basketball! We might also take walking trips from Keewaydin down to the lake, getting to know the neighborhood better while hiking along the trails.     Once Upon a Time... with Climb Theater (Grades 2-3)

    Imagine what the collective creativity of a room full of young people might develop when tasked with collaboratively creating a play? In this class, students are led through visual arts, movement, and other arts entry points with the end goal of creating an imaginative show that’s all their own. Participants will explore the magic of theater through theater games, acting exercises, and character design. They will have the opportunity to step into the shoes (or, rather, glass slippers) of their favorite fairytale characters, and to create an imaginative show that’s all their own. In the final session the world premiere is staged and performed by CLIMB theatre professional actors (and willing participants from your family). Strong reading or writing skills are not a requirement... only your imagination! Limit 20. This class is for students in 2nd and 3rd grade. Use foam board, glue, paint, weathering, and other art-related skills to create take-home pieces for use in tabletop roleplaying games or as display pieces. This is a beginner-friendly course that requires no experience. Students will learn how real life connects to the magic world and allow their creativity to expand. This class will spark their imaginations and encourage creative reasoning in new ways as we explore STEAM concepts using Harry Potter as a backdrop for our activities!
