    This is a separating class (child and parent spend time together and apart). Families come in many different sizes, colors and makeups. We invite adoptive, foster and kinship families to join us in an ECFE class that explores parent and child development through an adoptive/foster family lens. Class will begin with a circle time and then parents will separate for a 1.75 hour topic discussion. A limited number of Infants 0-4 months are welcome to stay with parents during discussion time.     This is a separating class (child and parent spend time together and apart). How can parents be antiracist - as defined by Dr. Ibram X. Kendi - raise antiracist children, and together grow into becoming interrupters and dismantlers of systemic racism? Parents will learn how race identity is formed; how to proactively start and sustain developmentally appropriate conversations about race, racism, and racial justice. Parents will discuss how racism impacts their parenting and learn strategies to do the inner-work required to sustain them on the journey of implementing antiracist principles and actions in their parenting role.     This is a separating class (child and parent spend time together and apart). Join us for a space to engage with your young Black/Brown child with child friendly activities to do together; while connecting with other caregivers about parenting and how it's different when raising Black and Brown children. Our class is co-taught by a Brown Latinx teacher and a white teacher. Class meets weekly and you may join at any time. Infants 0-4 months are welcome to stay with parents during discussion time.     This is a separating class (child and parent spend time together and apart). Spend time playing with your child along with parents and children of a variety of cultural backgrounds. During parent discussion, parents will share parenting practices and critically examine research-based information using a cultural lens. In addition, this class will focus as a subset of the Parent Council (PC). Information from the PC will be shared and the PC will elicit feedback for ECFE leadership decisions.     The class at Cityview is a non-separating class (child and parent together for entire class). The class at Wilder is a separating class (child and parent spend time together and apart). Children are naturally curious. Through inquiry, children will use their senses to discover answers to questions they truly care about in our natural world, both living and non-living. Parents will engage with their child in nature-based learning experiences both indoors and outdoors. Parent education will explore how to lead your child's nature learning. Using scientific research to craft smart strategies that any parent can use to help their children resolve conflicts with empathy, mindfulness, and peace. Parents will learn mindfulness exercises to integrate into parenting, increasing resiliency for both parent and child.
