Backpacking Basics (Jefferson)
Even as winter approaches, it is never too early to start thinking about backpacking. Learn basic skills for your first backpacking trip before hitting the trail. Learn from a seasoned backpacker who is a Wilderness First Responder how to choose a trail, pack a backpack, set up a tent, use a backcountry stove and water filter, use a gear list (provided), read a map, protect food and maintain gear.
This orientation is required prior to any on-trail 1st-Time Backpacking Trip with Backpack The Trails LLC. Please note that taking this class does not commit any attendees to sign up for a trip.
Class participants must wear a face covering, maintain social distance and take a home health assessment prior to coming to class. All in-person classes will follow current COVID-19 safety protocols.
