  • Minnehaha Falls Walking Tour (Southwest)

    Creation of Minnehaha Falls, the Dakotas, explorers, soldiers, tourists, celebrities, neighbors, poets, millers, politicians, celebrants, artists, musicians, wild animals, carnivals, children, Scandinavians, foodies, churches, activists, governors, runners, a hermit and even more will be revealed on this ¾ mile walk through Minnehaha Falls Park. Maureen Trepp, long time resident and Mpls. historian, will share the history of the land, culture, and people who have lived in and enjoyed this unique and much visited public park. Group will meet at the bridge over the top of Minnehaha Falls at 6:00 for a 1 ½ hour tour. There are 2 Blue light rail line stops near the park and parking in a pay lot on the north end of the park.   • Cedar-Riverside Walking Tour (Southwest)

    No other neighborhood in Minneapolis has impacted our city’s music and theater life, diverse demographics, higher education opportunities, and unique skyline as has the Cedar Riverside neighborhood. As we walk through the blocks centered on Cedar and Riverside Avenues, we’ll learn about the liquor patrol zone, immigrant homes, West Bank bars, the food co-op movement, Dania Hall, protests and rent strikes, mosques, markets, a settlement house and those colorful high rise buildings next to 35W. Bring your own stories to share with tour leader Maureen Trepp, lifetime Mpls. resident, historian and frequent Cedar Riverside visitor. Meet at the outdoor entry to the Humphrey Institute on 19th Ave. So. and 3rd St. E. at 10:00 a.m.. The tour lasts 1 ½ hours and is about a mile in length. There are 2 Blue line and 1 Green line light rail stops in the neighborhood and a parking ramp on 19th Ave. along with street parking. If tour is full, please enroll for the waitlist.
