Anime & Stop-motion Animation (Anthony)
Join Anime club and get a chance to practice your freestyle art and meet and spend time with anime lovers. Most importantly, you'll get a chance to explore anime and discuss various themes expressed through the visual medium. We'll be taking a look at some of the most popular animated films, but also at some less heard of series as well. Later in the year, we’ll get a chance to create our own animation using stop-motion techniques we can do right on our own Chromebooks using google slides! No prior knowledge of anime or Japanese culture needed, just an interest in foreign culture and a willingness to listen and express your opinions. -
Anthony Newspaper (Anthony)
Catch the Buzz! This course is an opportunity for students to put their own mark on the wildly popular Anthony Newspaper “The Buzz”! Students will practice writing, editing, formatting, printing and distributing their very own newspaper. Anyone with an interest in sharing their creativity with our school should join! Students in this course are also invited to participate in the Minneapolis Book Review program where students can get paid to read and review books! -
Asian Cooking Wednesday (Anthony)
Students will learn new cooking skills for making delicious Asian cuisine. We have a fun menu ready to go. Come join us! -

Creating fun and excitement for everyone who enjoys board games and developing skills of strategic thinking. -
Chess Club (Anthony)
Beginners through advanced players are welcome to come play chess together! Learn some new skills or practice what you know with other Anthony students. -

Cooking (Anthony)
The lessons in the cooking class focus on students practicing cooking and cleaning skills, With measurements while using the stove and oven. Learning focuses heavily on students reflecting on the process of cooking; identifying what worked and what didn't while cook/ preparing meals. -
Creative Writing (Anthony)
Students will have the opportunity to learn even more about the writing process as they write and share unique works of their choosing. Students will have the opportunity to get feedback on their writing, and, if they want, to publish their writing in a school wide zine. Students in this course are also invited to participate in the Minneapolis Book Review program where students can get paid to read and review books! -

Design Art with Ceramics (Anthony)
Students will unleash their creativity through clay, building inspired ceramic projects that push their skills in visual art and engineering forward each week. This course is a great space to relax, create art, and explore what’s possible with ceramics! -
Dungeons & Dragons (Anthony)
Dungeons and Dragons A place to learn and play the world's most popular Tabletop Roleplaying Game. Based on personal interest students will be able to play in or run a game with their peers. Under the guidance of a knowledgeable game enthusiast to help teach them the game. Gameplay consists of Building a character to roleplay as inside a fantasy world of magic and dragons. Then joining with their peers to cooperate in creating and telling stories together, solve problems and puzzles, and go on exciting adventures together. All through the power of imagination, the luck of the dice, and basic math. This game does contain combat against both creatures and human enemies. The use of Maps, Miniatures, Dice, character sheets and source books for 5th edition (2014 handbook) are supplied. Students are welcome to bring their own as well. So, whether you are new to the game, or a seasoned veteran, all are welcome to join in the fun! -
GEMS and GISE (Anthony)
Students will design, build, and program Lego robots to complete missions and compete in the First Lego League competition! Our award winning program is open to beginners and experienced FLL students alike, regardless of grade level! If you have an interest in engineering, this is the program for you! PLEASE NOTE* Students are encouraged to attend at least two days a week based upon schedule availability. -
GSA (Anthony)
Gender and Sexuality Alliance - Open to LGBTQIA+ students and Allies alike, students in this group will have opportunities to share their experiences with other classmates, learn more about LGBTQIA+ history, and work to positively impact our school culture and community! -
Jazz Band (Anthony 6th)
Students seeking more opportunities to play band instruments in an ensemble can do so while getting an introduction to the exciting world of jazz! Students must have one or more years playing experience on the instrument. It is highly recommended that students are currently enrolled in school band or weekly private lessons. Students will learn about the history of the music, the development of jazz rhythm and chord structures, and will learn and practice improvisation! -
Jewelry Making (Anthony)
Students will work on individual jewelry projects and share skills. We will focus on using beads and floss to create individual expressive projects, have fun, and make new friends. -
Leather Making (Anthony)
This is an exciting class of making wonderful leather designed arts and craft based ornaments, keychains, bracelets and other awesome leather craftsmanship designed. You will learn the wonderful of leathercraft and be your own design maker. -
Math League (Anthony)
Students with a love of learning and an interest in studying mathematics at a deeper level will love this opportunity to compete in the Minnesota Junior High Math League in the fall, and the National MathCounts competition in the spring. Students from any grade level with any level of experience can join our award winning math team! -
Murals and Set Design (Anthony)
Students with an interest in painting that are really looking to leave their mark on our school will love this opportunity to design and paint beautiful murals in our school! Additionally, students will have the opportunity to explore the world of set design as they help create beautiful works of art for the Anthony School Musical in the Spring! -
Urban Debate League (Anthony)
Students will work together to prepare for and participate in the Minneapolis Urban Debate League. Students will learn to construct and share research based arguments, and will learn to engage in thoughtful, respectful debate with their peers. -
