How to Draw Comics (Roosevelt)

In this introductory comics class, we will discuss what makes a comic strip, a comic strip! Each week we will discuss comic structure and form while drawing our very own short-form comics. This class has no genre focus, and is open to all comic interests.

Previous drawing experience recommended, no comic art experience required. 

Bring your own materials. Supply List:

  • Pencil and Erasers
  • 2 Black ink pens of choice
  • Sketchbook (new or used)

This class is priced on a sliding fee scale. Please pay the price you are able. This helps to ensure that Community Education can provide quality opportunities for all of our participants.

Michael DuFresne

Comics Instructor

Michael DuFresne is a local MSP artist who specializes in comic art and illustration. He graduated from Minneapolis College of Art and Design in May 2024 with a BFA in Comic Art. Michael enjoys writing comics that focus on capturing the fantastical elements of the everyday, highlighting LGBTQ+ characters and issues.
