Foreign Policy Discussion: AI and National Security (Roosevelt 55+)

Lifelong Learning 55+ / Adventures in Learning -
Lifelong Learning 55+ Spring 2025

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is expected to transform all sectors of society, including, the very character of war.

AI can enhance intelligence gathering and analysis capabilities, enable faster threat detection, improve decision-making through data analysis, and facilitate the development of new military technologies.

But there are also risks including misuse by adversaries, disinformation, and autonomous weapon systems.

As AI continues to evolve, how do we create methods to manage its use and limit potential hazards?

Foreign Policy Discussions presentations are offered through the nationwide Great Decisions program to learn more about vital foreign policy issues facing our country. The sessions feature lectures and lively discussions with local college professors and other guest speakers.

This program is co-sponsored with the Westminster Magnet program and Friends of Hennepin County Library.
