    Disney's "The Little Mermaid": Tech Crew for Minneapolis Community Education Summer Musical

    Join the Technical Crew of Minneapolis Community Education's production of Disney's The Little Mermaid After registering, you will be contacted by the production team. Get involved with scenery, props, costumes, lighting, sound, hair & make-up or stage management. Adults of all ages and youth entering grades 11th grade or older are welcome to be on the crew pending a conversation with the Stage Manger or Tech Director. Audition to be in the cast of Minneapolis Community Education's production of Disney's The Little Mermaid! Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney's The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl" and "Part of Your World." Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.

    After School Youth Classes

    Our programs serve youth in grades K-12 at Minneapolis Public School locations across the city to ensure all students have access to high quality programs. Community Education Youth Programs deliver a wide range of high-quality enrichment learning opportunities during out of school time (afterschool, release days, and summer). Community Education offerings support youth to develop strong peer relationships and foster new skills, through our intentional program design that fosters cultural identity, youth voice and leadership. In order to ensure that our high-quality enrichment classes are accessible to all families, Minneapolis Community Education is now offering fees on a sliding scale. Contact the Community Education Youth & Adult Programs coordinator at your school for more information.

    Carlson's Llovable Llama Farm boasts over 90 personable and curious llamas. Come learn about all their sweet and unique characteristics, see baby llamas and even take a llama on a trail walk. There is also a gift shop for llama yarn and toys. Carlson's Farm is located at 8380 Cty Rd 10 E. near Waconia. Transportation is on your own.     Creating a Circle of Security (18-24mos) Gradual Separation

    This is a gradual separation class (child and parent spend time together and practice spending time apart). The age range listed for this class is based on the child's age on the date the class session begins. Toddlers thrive when adults create a circle of security for them to grow within. We will focus on learning how to both read your toddler's emotional needs and help them successfully manage these emotions. A limited number of Infants 0-4 months are welcome to stay with parents during discussion time. Please enroll your young infant only in the Sibling Care option. NOTE: These young infants will remain with the parents during discussion time. ECFE classes are priced on a sliding fee schedule based on family income. Please choose the fee that best fits your family budget. A 10% surcharge will be applied to fees for Non-Minneapolis residents.

    Driver's Education Classroom Training (Southwest)

    Receive State-required classroom instruction. Students must attend all 30 hours of instruction, no make-up dates available. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a letter of completion. Class is open to students age 14 and older; students cannot receive a permit until their 15th birthday. Behind-the-Wheel Training is arranged, scheduled and paid for separately with your choice of provider. This class is priced on a sliding fee scale to make our programs more accessible. Families should choose the price they are able to pay. In order to enroll online, students must have their profile linked the profile of another adult. Minnesota State Law requires students to be present during all 30 hours of classroom training to receive their certificate of completion which allows them to enroll in Behind-the-Wheel Training. Drivers between the ages of fifteen and eighteen wishing to take their instructional permit test have to show proof of enrollment in six hours of Behind-the-Wheel Training. This proof of enrollment is commonly referred to as a blue card. Many of the classroom instructors Minneapolis Community Education contracts also provide Behind-the-Wheel Training through their own agency and they are able to share that information with students. Students are not required to take Behind-the-Wheel Training with their classroom instructor. Minneapolis Community Education makes no recommendation for providers of Behind-the-Wheel Training but can give contact information to families of specific providers upon request. Cost for Behind-the-Wheel Training is not included in the cost of this classroom instruction.
