    Arctic Explorers (Gr. 1)

    Join us and let your imagination run wild! We’ll create cool Arctic animals with art supplies and head outside for frosty adventures whenever we can.     Chess and Strategy Games (Gr. 2-5)

    Put your thinking cap on! In this class, you’ll discover how fun strategy can be. Learn chess, play new games, and sharpen your brain while playing fair and having fun! Teacher: Mr. Dorau This class runs Session 2 (January 12 - March 4) and Session 3 (March 16 – May 13). Students will be enrolled for all dates. This is an Extended Learning class.     Curiosity Studio: Curious About Art (Gr. 4-5)

    Participants are invited to use art to express themselves and explore the world around them. This series will incorporate a range of materials and prompts to promote reflection, connection, creativity, and fun! Not only will we make wonderful creations, we will use art to learn about friendship, sharing, decision making and more!     Dungeons & Dragons (Gr. 3-5)

    Pick up your sword, prepare your spells, and join us for an adventure for honor, hijinks, and hilarity! Students create and roleplay a character or become the Dungeon Master (DM) as they travel through a mystical world, fight monsters, and find treasure together. Come one, come all, no matter if you're an experienced or new player, and be part of an unforgettable adventure!     Minneapolis Parks: Curious About Nature (Gr. K-1)

    Join a Naturalist from Minneapolis Parks to explore nature in your school yard! Each week we will investigate the curiosities we find, engage in experimentation, use tools to help us discover more, and enjoy time spent outside. Our explorations will offer opportunities for building skills in observing, describing, and collaborating with others through sensory and investigative experiences.     An exciting, interactive class where students will discover the magic of performing through Theater! Students will be introduced to behind-the-scenes tech skills and have a performance at the end of the session. From learning movement and public speaking techniques to developing characters and practicing scenes, each child will gain confidence and teamwork skills as they bring a play to life. Whether it's on stage or behind the scenes, every student will contribute to the creative process, culminating in a memorable performance that celebrates their hard work and talent!     SAHR: Gym Games and Relays (Gr. 1-2)

    Get moving with fun relays and exciting tag games that keep students active and energized! Each session features a variety of gym activities designed to build coordination, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Students will boost their fitness, agility, and confidence, all while having a blast with their classmates.     This service-learning course helps students discover how they can make a difference in their school and community. Through hands-on projects, students learn about kindness, teamwork, and problem-solving while helping others. By connecting lessons to real-world actions, they build empathy, leadership skills, and a sense of responsibility.     Storybook Theater (Gr. K-1)

    Your favorite fairytales are coming to the Dowling stage! If you like reading, storytelling, working with others, and performing, then this class is right for you. Together we'll read our favorite storybooks and transform them into short scenes. We will perform at the end of the session.     Come enjoy the pool in after school. Students will practice basic techniques and play water games. All skill levels welcome! Students must bring their own swimsuit and towel. (We do not have access to the suits that students can use in gym class.) Students will swim from 4:10-5:00PM, then change and play table games.     Yarn Club (Gr. 3-5)

    Learn to crochet and knit wearable and shareable creations in this creative class. Explore your creativity using various textiles including yarn, string, and natural fibers.   • ​Robotics: GEMS & GISE (Gr. 2-3)

    Working together with LEGO building elements, motors, and sensors, students will build various robot prototypes. Students will program these robots to move, react, and make sounds, applying their skills to solve design challenges. This class runs Session 1 (October 21 - December 16) and Session 2 (January 12 - March 4). Students will be enrolled for all dates. At the end of Session 2, the class will culminate in a presentation of student robots and projects. This is an Extended learning class.
