  • CE: Chess & Games: Brilliant Bears Edition (Grade K-2) Hale Afterschool, Wednesdays

    Chess is back with our All Star Community Ed Chess coach Dave! Start your child’s love of strategy early with Chess & Games! This afterschool class introduces young minds to the world of chess, along with other classic games that build critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It’s a fun and engaging way to develop patience, strategy, and sportsmanship—let the games begin! Join us for weekly challenges and games as we make friends while we learn the basics of chess. We will hone our skills in Chess, Checkers, and other tabletop board games. There are seasonal district wide chess tournaments that your student will have the opportunity to participate in. Our Hale & Field students took 1st place in the K-3 section of the Check It Out Chess Tournament Fall 2023, 3rd in Winter, & 2nd in Spring! This Fall Hale & Field students took 1st place in the K-3 section and 4th in the 4-6 section! Stay tuned for future Check It Out Chess Tournaments! In this fun-filled afterschool class, kids could work on various projects like making lava lamps, keeping science journals, and slime-making.     Hale's very own arts & crafts teacher, Ms. Meg, invites you to dive into creativity as we explore the wonders of the ocean through art! From painting shimmering jellyfish to crafting colorful coral reefs, kids will unleash their imaginations while learning about the mysteries of the deep. Using a variety of materials like watercolors, clay, and recycled treasures, they'll create underwater masterpieces that are as unique as the creatures of the sea. This class will take place in the Hale art room with Hale's very own art teacher, Ms. Meg! Combine creativity with compassion in the Hale Bears Heart, Art, & Kindness Club! Through engaging art projects, your child will learn about the importance of kindness and how to express it through their artwork. It’s a wonderful way to nurture their artistic talents and big hearts—sign up and let kindness shine! Join us as we make, create, and give life to our very own kindness-themed arts & crafts projects to take home! In this fun-filled afterschool class, kids will build colorful Lego structures and bring their ideas to life through drawing. It’s the perfect blend of hands-on play and artistic expression—ideal for little builders and budding artists alike! In this class we will make friends, use our imagination, and sketch and construct our LEGO creations. We offer optional building challenges for our classes, but free-building is also an option.     CE: Yoga & Active Play! (K-2) Hale Afterschool, Mondays

    Join Ms. Elena for fun kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade gym games, physical activity, and yoga afterschool! Get ready to stretch, move, and giggle! In Yoga & Play, your child will explore playful yoga poses and fun activities designed to boost flexibility, focus, and relaxation. It’s the perfect way to unwind after a busy school day, combining physical fitness with mindful fun. A happy, healthy experience for every Hale Bear! Recess and gym games are a great stimulus to develop your child’s motor ability, and yoga increases body awareness and mindfulness. To give students time to move around and unwind afterschool, the first two thirds of the class we will play games like catching stars, spaceship tag, and musical hula hoops. The last third of the class students will be invited to re-center and calm their minds with yoga.     Active Solutions powered by InSports has taken the best of Physical Education and created a after school class your child(ren) will love. This class will take place in the Hale Gymnasium with Larissa Parr and Ashley Bruun. Your child(ren) will experience different activities during each session. Activities include lifelong sport, recreation and fitness: most all individual and team sports, rope jumping, racket games, track and field, kickball, tag games, ultimate frisbee, floor hockey, bowling, volleyball, lord of the rings, pin guard, mini mighty stations, Danish baseball and many others. Teachers also incorporate math, reading, health, nutrition and wellness into their lessons. This class is perfect for the child that needs more movement in their lives! Lessons are designed to keep kids engaged in learning activities and to keep their heart rates elevated. Character building, cooperative skills, individual success and safety are all emphasized.     In Snapology’s Lego City® themed class, students will explore the world of transportation, structures, and what makes a city go! Students will build models of their favorite forms of transportation, as well as what makes a strong structure like a building or bridge or tunnel. We'll talk about urban planning as we coordinate our city and collaboratively build it full of buildings, vehicles, parks, and other awesome builds to incorporate into the city!
