    Do you love reading? Have you always been curious about the process of making comics and graphic novels? This is the class for you! We need your help reviewing books that could be part of Minneapolis Public Schools’ ELA classes. Even more, you will be paid $25 for each book you read and review. That's free money just for sharing your thoughts! The books range from fiction to nonfiction, novel to graphic novel, and you'll get to decide which ones should be used in your classes. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to learn about the process of making comics and graphic novels while creating your own. All levels of artistic prowess are welcome. Just bring your creative brain and love of books. Be ready to learn new things and earn a little bit of cash in the process! This class is lead by Mr. Shane! This class is only open to Justice Page students.
  • Anime Club (Justice Page)

    Join Anime club and get a chance to practice your freestyle art and meet and spend time with anime lovers. Most importantly, you'll get a chance to explore anime and discuss various themes expressed through the visual medium. We'll be taking a look at some of the most popular animated films, but also at some less heard of series as well. No prior knowledge of anime or Japanese culture needed, just an interest in foreign culture and a willingness to listen and express your opinions. In order to ensure that our high-quality enrichment classes are accessible to all families, Minneapolis Community Education offers fees on a sliding scale. Families are asked to pick the class fee or a price that they are able to pay.     Art Club (Justice Page)

    Be inspired, get creative, and make cool art! You'll exchange creative ideas, create works of art, and meet new friends with similar interests. This class will be a hands-on, creative thinking, individual expression, and experimentation workshop atmosphere. This is a great place to explore your artistic interests.     Basketball Workout (Justice Page)

    Connect with friends and play basketball afterschool! Join Mr. Burks in the gym for basketball skills, drills, and games. All levels are welcome to join. In order to ensure that our high-quality enrichment classes are accessible to all families, Minneapolis Community Education is now offering fees on a sliding scale. A sliding scale model for program fees so our afterschool programs can be financially sustainable and more equitable. The different prices reflect the average cost of offering a class as well as discounted options and options that help us cover our administrative costs. Fees cover instructor pay, class supplies, program materials, marketing and scholarships. Families are asked to pick the price that they are able to pay or select the no-cost option. We have always offered partial and full scholarships upon request. By more clearly articulating our lower cost options, we have removed the barrier that some may have felt in making these requests. When families participate as they are able, in all levels of our sliding scale, the whole program becomes self-sustaining.

    Join Ian to cook up all kinds of delicious dishes, from snacks to dessert and everything in between. Gain skills in the kitchen and enjoy the variety of food you make. Registration by waitlist. This is a popular class and we try to allow as many students an oppertunity. When registering click all the way through to confrim you are on the waitlist. I will assign students and charge the card on file on 3/11, giving priority to students who have not yet particpated in the class. Students will do everything from character creation, learning rules, and then taking your character into an adventure.   • GEMS and GISE - Stem Academy ALC (Justice Page)

    The GEMS-GISE-STEM Academies are after-school and summer school STEM programs designed specifically for Minneapolis Public School District students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. The programs focus on explorations of science and mathematics through project-based and problem-based learning experiences promoting the integration of engineering and technology concepts, content, and process. Students that participate in GEMS-GISE enroll in a year-long after-school program that is comprised of two semester courses with an opportunity to continue learning in the six week summer K-8 STEM Academy. Spring 2025 – Force & Motion: STEM of Speed - Start Date is 2/25/25 Explore Science and Engineering! In these engaging and investigative classes students are immersed in the fundamentals of aerospace engineering and rocketry through an interactive problem-based approach. Working in pairs, students solve a series of complex problems designing, constructing and testing a variety of aircraft. GEMS-GISE-STEM students conduct hands-on investigations exploring aerospace engineering and related career fields. Students explore this specialized field that includes the design of spacecraft and aircraft. Discovering that air (navigating within the earth's atmosphere) and spacecraft (operating primarily in outer space, beyond the earth's atmosphere) are technologies that extend human potential to transport people and goods. Students work and learn through exciting, project-based aerospace engineering activities designing, construction, testing, and troubleshooting as they work toward their final flight. Fall 2024- Robotics In this dynamic robotics class, students will explore mechanical design, construction, programming, and teamwork skills. Working in pairs with LEGO building elements, motors, and sensors, they will build various robot prototypes. Student will program these robots to move, react, and make sounds, applying their skills to solve design challenges using LEGO SPIKE Prime robotic systems. The class will culminate in participation in the 2025 FIRST LEGO League Challenge SUBMERGED℠ on January 25, 2025. In the SUBMERGED℠ Challenge, students and their LEGO team will harness creativity, critical thinking, and technology to explore the ocean's depths, surfacing their discoveries and innovative ideas. Beneath the surface of the ocean lies one of the planet's most complex and vibrant ecosystems, streaming with life and brimming with opportunities for exploration and learning. Each organism plays a crucial role in maintaining a thriving environment. Along the way, students will discover our collective potential to strengthen communities and drive innovation for a healthier, more sustainable world with thriving oceans.

  • Intro to 3D Printing- Battle Bots (Justice Page)

    Join us as we learn the basics of CAD (Computer Aided Design) and apply those skills to a variety of projects. You'll use the Engineering Design Process and geometry to design solutions in 2D and 3D. With our 3D printers you will bring some of our models to life to create a one of a kind battle bot! Priority will be given to students who qualify for ALC/Extended Learning.

    Intro to Future City (Justice Page)

    Join us to plan a city of tomorrow, today! . This is a mini version of the Future City Class.This year’s challenge asked students build a floating city and provide two innovative examples of how your floating city works and keeps its citizens healthy and safe. This class is for 8th grade students. Please register to the waitlist for this class.
  • Justice Green Team (Justice Page)

    Do you want an opportunity to make the world a better place? Do you want to get your hands dirty (and get out of class from time to time to do it)? Are you interested in hearing from people in our community that make positive environmental and social changes? Like pizza and snacks? If you said yes to any of these questions, consider joining our school club! The Green Team at Justice Page is a group of students who are working together to make our world a better place. We collaborate to find and implement solutions that are environmentally friendly through advocacy, education, and action. We will get our hands dirty and take field trips exploring and learning along the way. The Green Team is a fun way to learn more about environmental issues, and sustainability, and work with other students who share a passion for making our school and community a great place to live! Students will have a voice and choice in what we focus on. This class will be FUN and make an IMPACT! Pizza and snacks are a bonus to this class. This class is only open to Justice Page students.

    Math Prodigies (Justice Page)

    Need help with Math? This is the class for you. Ms. Novak will work with you and with small groups to understand and complete Math work. Gain confidence in asking and answering math questions and gain a better understanding of concepts being taught in your classes. You will also play ST Math, Prodigy, and other math games to build on what you know.

    Need help with Math? This is the class for you. Ms. Novak will work with you and small groups to understand and complete Math work. Gain confidence in asking and answering math questions. The second half of Math and Movement will be spent moving your body doing circuit workouts, meditation, and other games in the gym.

Make art, listen to music, play games, build with Legos, do a service project, play outside, make a presentation about your favortite things, the choice is yours!     Sewing 101 (Justice Page)

    This class is for students who are interested in creating with a sewing machine. Students will learn sewing machine operation, stitching, how to follow and create patterns, make a patchwork bag and more. Students with sewing experience are welcome. Note: Community Education uses a sliding scale model for program fees so our afterschool programs can be financially sustainable and more equitable. Families are asked to pay the class fee or pick the price that they are able to pay. By more clearly articulating our lower cost options, we have removed the barrier that some may have felt in making scholarship requests.     Soccer for Fun! (Justice Page)

    Join your friends in the gym to play soccer. This class is for fun, practice, and the love of soccer. We will do some skills drills, play games, and scrimmage each other. Wearing shin guards optional but not required.     YWCA - Girls Inc! YWCA Minneapolis is a member organization of Girls Incorporated. Through Girls Inc., girls take risks, discover and grow their inherent strengths, learn to value themselves and create long-lasting mentorship relationships in a pro-girl environment. Through this affiliation with Girls Inc., YWCA offers research-based curriculum delivered by trained professionals to equip girls to achieve academically, lead healthy and physically active lives, manage money, navigate media messages and discover an interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). This programming helps girls traverse complex gender, economic and social barriers to find success. Participants gain opportunities to learn new skills, make positive connections to peers and adults, contribute to society and believe in their ability to create the best possible future for themselves. This group is for students who identify as girls and/or non-binary. YWCA will require additional registration forms to be completed before program start.
