    Our incredibly talented Field SEA staff, Patrick Stebbings ("PJ"), is ready to bring his coaching expertise to the gymnasium! Your child(ren) will learn from the best and have a blast in afterschool. Activities include: indoor Physical Education and Basketball Team Sports. Teachers also incorporate math, reading, health, nutrition and wellness into their lessons. This class is perfect for the child that needs more movement in their lives! Lessons are designed to keep kids engaged in learning activities and to keep their heart rates elevated. Character building, cooperative skills, individual success and safety are all emphasized. Winter Session, 1/8/24 - 3/1/24 (no programming Jan 15, Feb. 19 nor Feb. 20) Bus **In order for your child to have bussing on the first day of programming please register by Dec. 10th. If you register after Dec. 10th, bussing may not be available for your student right away.** In order to ensure that our high-quality enrichment classes are accessible to all families, Minneapolis Community Education is now offering fees on a sliding scale. Some of our themes we've covered in the past include, Dinosaurs, Cityscape, Jungle, Future, Theater, Arcade Creations, Rube Goldberg Machines and more! Are you ready to take Cardboard to the next level? :) Winter Session, 1/8/24 - 3/1/24 (no programming Jan 15, Feb. 19 nor Feb. 20) This course has a $10 supply fee which is included in the cost of the class.     CE: Chess & Games! (Grade 3-5) Field Afterschool, Tuesdays

    Chess is back with our All Star Community Ed Chess coach Dave! Students will strategize, play and learn! Join us for weekly challenges and games as we make friends while we learn the basics of chess. We will hone our skills in Chess, Checkers, and other tabletop board games. There are occasional district wide chess tournaments that your student will have the opportunity to participate in. Our Hale & Field students took 1st place in the K-3 section of the Check It Out Chess Tournament Fall 2023!     Children's Theatre: Improv Jam (Grade 3-5) Field Afterschool, Thursdays

    Use your creative mind to practice quick thinking with Improvisation! Led by a teaching artist from the Children’s Theatre Company, you will learn the rules of improvisation, play active group games, and create full theatre scenes, minus the script.     Snapology: Incredible Inventions Robotics! (Grade 3-5) Field Afterschool, Tuesdays

    Whoever said you couldn’t solve the world’s problems with LEGO® bricks? In this class students learn about the process real inventors go through to create new inventions while designing, building, and programming robotic machines to solve real world problems. If your student likes open-ended problem solving and tinkering, this camp is for them!   • YMCA: Adventures with College Mentors! Field Afterschool, Tuesdays

    A team of College Y Mentors will be coming weekly to your afterschool program with a new adventure each week. We will be doing a variety of activities through Y Mentor Adventures Imagination Stations. Each week we will have an opportunity to use our imaginations creating all kinds of fun activities, which could include creating and playing games, travel, nature, music, science, art, and even learning how to grow your brain! It will be super fun using our imaginations together, come join us. ***This class does not line up perfectly with the Community Ed schedule. This course is a longer term commitment than other Community Ed classes; classes will run over both the Field Community Ed Winter & Spring Sessions*** The first class day for this course will be Tues, Jan 16th! (even though Field Community Ed starts, Tues. Jan. 9th) The last class day for this course will be Tues, April 30th! (even though Field Community Ed ends, Thurs.
