This class will focus on narrative and plot development through improvisation, with the ultimate goal of staging a fully improvised play by the end of the semester. It is suitable for all levels, with a particular emphasis on improvisers looking to explore the performative, theatrical, and plot-driven aspects of improv. Given the diverse skills required, the course will progress at a fast pace.
The curriculum will incorporate foundational improv concepts and exercises from seminal texts, ranging from Keith Johnstone to the UCB. Students are expected to bring a mindset of learning, continuous improvement, and a "yes, and" attitude. Together, we will build trust, grow as performers, and work as a team to successfully create a fully improvised play.
