    Choir with Liz Gr. 3-5

    Students will learn arrangements of contemporary pop songs and perform them at the end of the after school programming cycle. Special emphasis will be placed on breath control, pitch, collaborative singing and performance etiquette on a stage. We’re going to have so much fun! This class is funded through Extended Learning through Minneapolis Public Schools.   • Clay Club with Darcy Gr. 3-5

    This is a hand-building ceramic course for students to explore their creativity while experiencing everything clay. You will learn the entire creative process of making a piece from start to finish, the stages of clay, and glazing. This includes hand-building techniques like wedging, pinch, coil and slab. You will have the opportunity to build crazy creatures, fun food and more! We’ll also explore ceramic artists, personal expression, and our community in the process.     Play, express and create! This is a class for young students to explore their creativity. Paint, draw, build and more! We’ll explore artists, multiple materials and our community in the process.     Learn how to create amazing sculptures using a variety of materials like paper mâché, wire, foam, and more. Each week, students will explore new techniques for building structures, adding textures, and bringing their artistic visions to life in three dimensions. From whimsical creatures and abstract designs to functional art pieces they will create unique sculptures to be proud of.     Students will create simple necklaces, bracelets, fidgets, keychains, and more! Other unique craft ideas will be woven into this class as well, making it all fun for everyone!     Join us as we explore the exciting world of knit and crochet! Learn the differences between the two techniques and explore the basics of each- We will begin the adventure with Knitting and create a simple beginner project.     In this class we'll work on vocabulary and grammar and encourage children to create authentic dialogues. Thanks to our elementary-focused, immersive program, your child will start speaking fast.     MN Musical Theater: Musical Theater Gr. 2-5

    Come join your friends in this fantastic theater class! Our teachers are highly trained actors, percussionists, guitarists, pianists, singers and dancers that joined forces to create a program that enhances students’ confidence and allows them to embrace their love for the arts. Reading skills are used during class participation so we ask students are in at least 2nd grade. We work on our dance, singing and acting technique through a series of different exercises and games. There will be a short performance on the last class. Reminders will be sent out closer to the date. Instructor: MN Musical Theater This class starts on February 3rd and ends on May 12th.     This class offers an exciting adventure into the world of engineering design and prototyping, which is essential for designing race cars and other vehicles. Students will brainstorm, sketch, build, test, and refine their prototypes, gaining invaluable hands-on experience. Students will have the opportunity to test the limits of all their vehicle designs in various races for speed and challenges designed for distance. Students will also have the option to design and build CO2 dragsters out of wood blocks, providing a thrilling culmination to their learning journey. Students should register for only either a M/W class or a Tu/Th class. This class is funded through Extended Learning through Minneapolis Public Schools. Every student who is in an Extended Learning class after school must have a Continuous Learning Plan (CLP) that will need to be signed by a Parent/Guardian and returned.     Sweets Kendama: Mindfulness Games with Kendamas

    KENDAMA merges the fun and excitement of play with the importance of mindful awareness and emotional regulation. Your student will learn basic techniques in mindful breathing designed to help reduce stress, anger and anxiety. They will also practice emotional awareness and growth mindset through journaling, reflection and play with kendama in a series of progressively harder challenges and games. Students can expect to be active and moving during our class. No prior kendama experience is necessary! Students will receive a Kendama to take home and practice.     Twin Cities Chess: Chess Club Gr. K-5

    Learn how to play the game of chess from Twin Cities Chess Club instructors who have years of teaching experience. Competitive chess tournaments are scheduled once a year and students can play for real chess trophies! All levels welcome.     Y Mentors Gr. 3-5 Tuesdays

    A team of College Y Mentors will be coming weekly to our after school program with a new adventure each week. Each week we will have an opportunity to use our imaginations creating all kinds of fun activities, which could include creating and playing games, travel, nature, music science, art, and even learning how to grow your brain!
