  • Afterschool Music Ensemble (Justice Page-ALC)

    Join Afterschool Music Ensemble with Mr. Kaiser! Students who sign up for this class can get help with: Practicing their instrument (minutes do count towards your practice calendar). Learning a second instrument Work in a duet, trio, or small group! Having practice space for a rock band or other ensemble to meet. and any other musical ideas you have! Class will meet twice a week to make it easier for as many students as possible to attend. Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school! This class is only open to Justice Page students.

    Join Anime club! Meet and spend time with fellow anime lovers. We'll be taking a look at some of the most popular anime series and films. We watch a variety of series and shows that the youth suggest and vote on. Ratings for anmie vary but kids tend to suggest series that are PG, PG-13, and TV 14. In order to ensure that our high-quality enrichment classes are accessible to all families, Minneapolis Community Education offers fees on a sliding scale. Families are asked to pick the class fee or a price that they are able to pay. When families participate as they are able, at all levels of our sliding scale, the whole program becomes self-sustaining and our afterschool programs can be financially sustainable and more equitable.     Be inspired, get creative, and make cool art! You'll exchange creative ideas, create works of art, and meet new friends with similar interests. This class will be a hands-on, creative thinking, individual expression, and experimentation workshop atmosphere. This is a great place to explore your artistic interests.   • Cheffing Rhinos, Cooking with Jodie (ALC Justice Page)

    Join our afterschool Cheffing Rhinos, where 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students learn to cook simple, safe recipes from around the world. Students practice kitchen safety, measure ingredients, follow step-by-step instructions, and explore the history and culture behind each dish. This hands-on club builds teamwork, confidence, and FOOD.

    Chess Club (Justice Page)

    Join fellow chess enthusiasts to level up your play. Work with Dave (field chess teacher) to learn to play or learn and practice new strategies for Chess. Gain confidence in your chess game and represent Justice Page at City-wide chess tournaments. Students and families register for tournaments individually.     Join Ian to cook up all kinds of delicious dishes, from snacks to dessert and everything in between. Gain skills in the kitchen and enjoy the variety of food you make.   • Dungeons and Dragons with Badwolf All Levels (Justice Page)

    Dungeons and Dragons with Badwolf Adventure Studios. Dungeon masters will run two all level campaigns. Students will do everything from character creation, learning rules, and then taking your character into an adventure. Use creative ideas and collaborative story telling to go on an adventure with your friends.
  • GEMS and GISE - Stem Academy ALC (Justice Page)

    The GEMS-GISE-STEM Academies are after-school STEM programs designed specifically for Minneapolis Public School District students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. The programs focus on explorations of science and mathematics through project-based and problem-based learning experiences promoting the integration of engineering and technology concepts, content, and process. Students that participate in GEMS-GISE enroll in a year-long after-school program that is comprised of two semester courses with an opportunity to continue learning in the six week summer K-8 STEM Academy. This class is offered as a Tuesdaya nd Thursday class. We would love for students to attend both days but understand that is not always possible. Please join us, even if for one day each week. Fall 2025: Robotics- Middle School Robotics Team In this dynamic robotics class, students will explore mechanical design, construction, programming, and teamwork skills. Working in pairs with LEGO building elements, motors, and sensors, they will build various robot prototypes. Students will program these robots to move, react, and make sounds, applying their skills to solve design challenges using LEGO SPIKE Essential & Prime robotic systems. The class will culminate in participation in the 2026 FIRST LEGO League Challenge UNEARTHED℠ on January 17, 2026. Get ready to dig in! In the UNEARTHED℠ Challenge, students and their LEGO team will harness creativity, critical thinking, and technology to explore this season’s challenge. Teams are challenged to combine the thrill of archaeology with the power of technology. It's a chance for students to use their STEM skills, innovation, and teamwork to uncover the past and help shape the future! Spring 2026: Build, Power, Create! (Energy-Electricity-Electronics) Power up your mind! In our Energy, Electricity, and Electronics course, students will be an investigator, diving into the core concepts that light up our world. Students explore the fundamentals of energy, including how it's measured, converted, and transferred. We will also look to the future, examining the importance of conservation and the potential of alternative energy sources through a hands-on, problem-based approach. Students will conduct investigations into key concepts like currents, open and closed circuits, series and parallel circuits, and static electricity. Students also explore the properties of conductors and insulators, and the principles of magnetism as they work on exciting, project-based experiments. Get ready to level up! Engage in exciting electronics projects, middle school students learn to build, test, and troubleshoot circuits using circuit boards and other electronic components. The adventure continues with a special opportunity to explore the fascinating world of digital electronics. Students will create their own projects using microcontrollers and sensors, bringing their ideas to life! This class is only open to Justice Page Students.
  • Improv (Justice Page)

    Join fellow theater enthusiasts for Improv! You don't have to be funny, you don't have to be quick or clever. Students take the size risk they want to in the moment while working on getting out of their heads. You don't have to be theatrical, just say yes to what's in front of you, and truly interesting things can happen. Each session will consist of warm-ups, an introduction, exercises, and games.   • Justice Green Team (Justice Page-ALC)

    Do you want an opportunity to make Justice Page and the world a better place? Do you love thrifting, vintage clothes or want to help with our 2nd hand fashion show? Are you interested in hearing from people in our community that make positive environmental and social changes? Do you like potatoes and hot sauce? Because we cook up potatoes each week, sometimes other snacks too! If you said yes to any of these questions, consider joining the Justice Page Green Team! The Green Team at Justice Page is a group of students who are working together to make our world a better place. We will work hard to put on big events at school. The Green Team is a fun way to learn more about environmental issues, and sustainability, and work with other students who share a passion for making our school and community a great place to live. Students will have a voice and choice in what we focus on. This class will be FUN and make an IMPACT! Potatoes and snacks are a nice little bonus to this class, hard to save the planet on an empty stomach! Join us! This class is only open to Justice Page students.

    Need help with Math? This is the class for you. Ms. Novak will work with you and small groups to understand and complete Math work. Gain confidence in asking and answering math questions. You will also play other math games to build on what you know. The second half of Math and Movement will be spent moving your body doing circuit workouts, meditation, and other exercies in the gym.

    Learn the importance of costumes and props to help tell the story of the musical. Work as a team to make, gather, and maintain the costumes and props for the cast of the musical. You'll be behind the scenes helping cast members throughout the show. Get creative making costumes, altering clothes and gathering items. Before, during and after performances you'll be busy working with the cast. This class will meet twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday until March 3, when we will add a few more days. All Cast and Crew members attend the Full week of March 9-14. Public Performances: Friday March 13, 2025 at 7:00pm - Students stay after school, rehearsal, and dinner before the performance. Saturday March 14, 2025 at 2:00 PM and 7:00PM - Students arrive at 1:00 and 5:45 to prepare for the performances. Strike and Celebration: Afterschool on Monday, March, 16. This is an ALC and Community Education class. It is taught by MPS licensed teachers and community Education Instructors. This class is only open to Justice Page Students.
  • Musical CAST: High School Musical Jr (Justice Page)

    DEADLINE TO REGISTER to audition for the cast is Monday, November 24. You are registering to the waitlist. Please make sure you click all the way through the waitlist registration. If you did not receive a confirmation, you are not registered. Registration for the musical is open to current Justice Page students. As part of the cast, Justice Page students will bring the story of High School Musical Jr. to life through singing, dancing, and acting! Cast Commitment: Practices will be Monday-Thursday, 3:25 - 5:30, January 5 - Monday, March 16. All cast members should plan to attend each day for the first week or two and the last 2 weeks, in addition to attending 2-4 days a week as scheduled. If a student is not scheduled, they have a rest day and do not need to attend. All cast members should be able to attend all the public performance dates and their scheduled rehearsals. Students enrolled in Debate, Math, Green Team, Justice Pages, and Yearbook are welcome to attend those classes if they do not have to be at rehearsal. Students are expected to participate, follow directions, be in assigned spaces, and attend scheduled practices. Students who have 3 unexcused absences will be removed from their role or cast. Rehearsals: Monday-Thursday 3:25-5:30. Depending on the role, students will be asked to attend rehearsal 2-4 days a week. Public Performances: Friday, March 13, 7:00 PM and Saturday, March 14, 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM Strike and Celebration: Afterschool on Monday, March 16. There are a limited number of roles for the musical. We anticipate more interested students than we will be able to accommodate. When you register, it will say "waitlist". All waitlist students will audition. If your student is cast in a role, they will move off the waitlist. If your student is not cast in a role, they will remain on the waitlist and be contacted if a role needs to be filled, and can join crew, another class, Live theatre thrives because of people like you. The cost of producing a show from teaching talent, sets and costumes to lighting, sound, is considerable. Your attendance and financial support make all the difference. Thank you for investing in local arts and helping us continue to tell stories onstage. This show is a combination of Community Education and ALC instructors. AUDITION INFORMATION: December 1: 6th-grade students audition December 2: 7th-grade students audition December 3: 8th-grade students audition December 6, names for callbacks will be posted on the Auditorium door. December 8th and 9th, callbacks December 12th, the Castlist will be posted at the end of the school day. December 18, come and get acquainted with Ms. T, cast members, the script, the space, etc. This is a great time to get your script before winter break, ask questions about your character and role, and get hype about the musical.     Learn the importance of lights and sound to tell story of the musical. Before, during and after performances you'll be busy behind the scenes. Students who learn these skills may be called to help with future auditorium events like school assemblies, guest performances. Attention to detail, willing to learn, and work as a team are all important parts of running the lights and sound. This class will meet once a week on Mondays, starting Febrarury 2, 2026. Students may attend more days in March if planned with directors. All Cast and Crew members attend the full week of March 9-14. Public Performances: Friday March 13, 2025 at 7:00pm - Students stay after school, rehearsal, and dinner before the performance.     Have fun playing different strategy games. Compete in games like, Wingspan, Catan, Deluxe Clue, Chess, and more. Join the growing group of Magic the Gathering players, for standard 60 card play. Choose something different each week, including cards, board games and video games.   • Urban Debate League (Justice Page) ALC

    Students will work together to prepare for and participate in the Minneapolis Urban Debate League- Middle School National Topic. Students will learn to construct and share research-based arguments and will learn to engage in thoughtful, respectful debates with their peers. Students can compete in up to 6 debate tournaments from January to March. Our debate divisions are designed to get students excited about debate. Rookie and novice are designed for beginner students. Junior Varsity and Varsity are designed for students who are ready for a higher level of competition.

    Volleyball for Fun! (Justice Page)

    Connect with friends and play Volleyball afterschool! All levels are welcome to join. Play games, practice drills, go over rules and terminology so you feel confident on the court. Come have fun! In order to ensure that our high-quality enrichment classes are accessible to all families, Minneapolis Community Education is now offering fees on a sliding scale. A sliding scale model for program fees so our afterschool programs can be financially sustainable and more equitable. The different prices reflect the average cost of offering a class as well as discounted options and options that help us cover our administrative costs. Fees cover instructor pay, class supplies, program materials, marketing and scholarships. Families are asked to pick the price that they are able to pay or select the no-cost option. We have always offered partial and full scholarships upon request. By more clearly articulating our lower cost options, we have removed the barrier that some may have felt in making these requests. When families participate as they are able, in all levels of our sliding scale, the whole program becomes self-sustaining.

    YWCA - Girls Inc! YWCA Minneapolis is a member organization of Girls Incorporated. Through Girls Inc., girls take risks, discover and grow their inherent strengths, learn to value themselves and create long-lasting mentorship relationships in a pro-girl environment. Through this affiliation with Girls Inc., YWCA offers research-based curriculum delivered by trained professionals to equip girls to achieve academically, lead healthy and physically active lives, manage money, navigate media messages and discover an interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). This programming helps girls traverse complex gender, economic and social barriers to find success. Participants gain opportunities to learn new skills, make positive connections to peers and adults, contribute to society and believe in their ability to create the best possible future for themselves. This group is for students who identify as girls and/or non-binary. YWCA will require additional registration forms to be completed before program start.
