    Join us for an after-school program that mixes real life skills with real fun! This isn't your typical program. Think basketball, arts & crafts, team challenges, and creative activities that keep you moving while learning. We will cover topics that matter like friendship, confidence, communication and healthy choices, all in a safe and supportive space. Come and hang out, build new skills and discover how to handle life's challenges while having fun. This group is led by YWCA Contact Plus and is paid for by a grant.
  • Craft Club - Unified (Sanford)

    Join Craft Club, a fun and inclusive creative space where students of all abilities come together to make art, learn new skills, and build friendships. This club is partnered with Unified through Special Olympics of Minnesota, celebrating inclusion and teamwork through hands-on projects and creative expression. Special Olympics Unified Schools is an education and sports based strategy powered by an engaged student community that increases athletic and leadership opportunities for students with and without intellectual disabilities. It is a strategy to activate youth, engage educators, and promote school communities of acceptance and inclusion where all young people are agents of change. The three components of Unified Schools include Inclusive Youth Leadership, Unified Sports, and Whole School Engagement. All three areas are crucial to shift the culture of a school towards inclusion. 1. Inclusive Youth Leadership: An opportunity for youth voices to be heard through engaging together with meaningful relationships. 2. Unified Sports: A combination of special education students and general education students that participate in inclusive sporting opportunities. 3. Whole School Engagement: Bullying prevention and inclusive promotion initiatives that reach entire school populations through engaging, inspiring and optimistic events.

    Design Teacher Mx. Carlson, brings you this fun and techy after-school club built for students who love to fix, tinker and play. Students will learn to repair phones, take small machines apart and figure out how to put them back together, learn and use 3D printers and more!     Futsal is similar to soccer but played with a smaller ball and in a gym. Fast-paced, fun, and open to all skill levels, this club is the perfect place to build your footwork, teamwork, and confidence. Whether you're new to the game or already skilled on the court, you'll learn new techniques, play exciting matches, and develop your game.     Girls Inc. is for youth who identify as "girl" or "gender-expansion" who are interested in a "pro-girl" environment. Girls, Inc has girls creating change in their community and learning from women leaders. Students learn how to save, share and spend money, explore what it means to have a safe body and mind, do fun science experiments like making slime and bath bombs, free snacks and earn a t-shirt. Girls, Inc ends with a party that is planned by you! This is a grant funded club that is $0 for participants.

    Explore the intersection of food, science, and social impact in Urban 4-H! Dive into hydroponic gardening, cooking, and food justice projects while learning about climate change and other real-world issues.     Ms. Shayda will be leading Magic The Gathering (MTG). Join us weekly to play, learn and master Magic: The Gathering! Weather your brand new or a seasoned spellcaster, you'll build decks, develop strategy, and face off in fun, friendly matches. Come trade cards, meet fellow players, and level up your game. Students are welcome to bring their own cards or use the thousands of cards we have in after-school!     Mystery Book Club (Sanford)

    Do you enjoy reading mysteries and thrillers? Our Mystery Book Club is led by Ms. Olsen on Tuesdays. Students will vote on the book, read together and have in depth discussions on the subject matter. This is a laid back group that enjoys reading, chatting and having fun. The first book was voted on last year and will be The Lake by Natasha Preston. This is an MPS Extended Learning ALC Class and paid for by district funding.

    Sanford is proud a Unified School! Join us on Thursdays for Open Gym! We will have free time to play whatever you want in the gym and some organized games and sports.     S.A.G.E. stands for social and gender equity. The foundation of S.A.G.E focuses on civics education, community service, and social activism. The curriculum is inclusive and reflects everyone. This affinity group is for students who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ Community and their allies. This is a non judgmental safe space to share, connect and have fun doing walking field trips, arts and crafts and more!     Join Project Runway and experience the excitement of fashion design!     Ms. Rhonda Lund is back at Sanford in After-school running Acting, Drama and Skits! Bring stories to life by acting and performing!     The Cook Up! (Sanford)

    By popular demand we are excited to offer The Cook Up, Cooking Club! In this club students will learn how to follow simple recipes using fresh ingredients, toaster ovens, air fryers, induction burners and electric skillets. This is sure to be a really fun class with lots of snacks and treats to enjoy! Note: This is an Extended Learning Academic Class and paid for by state and federal dollars.

    *Urban Debate's last day is March 26th* Fees are adjusted to reflect two days a week for three weeks in March* The Minnesota Urban Debate League (MNUDL) is a program of Augsburg University which provides resources and programming to support competitive academic debate in Twin Cities high schools and middle schools. The mission of MNUDL is to empower students through competitive academic debate to become engaged learners, critical thinkers, and active global citizens who are effective advocates for themselves and their communities. Sanford's Urban Debate Team historically has excelled in tournaments. Ms. Rhonda Lund has been leading the team for many years and will be back at Sanford this fall to continue to work with our team!
