CE: Birds of Minnesota: Feathers, Finches, & Falcons! Mon & Wed (K-2) Hale Afterschool, Mondays & Wednesdays

After School Youth Classes / Hale -
After School Youth Enrichment Spring 2026

Ready to fly? Experience the Birds of Minnesota with Hale's art teacher, Ms. Meg! Our students swan-dive into a world of discovery through hands-on, minds-on learning. We use a project-based and problem-based approach that seamlessly integrates literacy, art, and math skills, making learning more dynamic and fun! Spark your child’s imagination with a joyful blend of reading, storytelling, and hands-on art! In this engaging afterschool program, young learners explore books, build early literacy skills, and bring stories to life through creative projects. Perfect for curious minds and budding artists, it’s a fun, supportive space where learning and creativity shine together.

Spring 2026- Spring brings sunshine and so many new birds to explore! Students will enjoy sweet springtime stories, rhyming read alouds, and simple writing prompts as they learn about nests, eggs, and migrating songbirds. Art projects will bloom with nature-made nests, bright robin paintings, and colorful bird masks ready for pretend play. It’s a happy, hands-on season that celebrates reading, creativity, and the excitement of spring!

NOTE: This class is now run through Community Ed and has a fee. The class fees may look larger since this class runs both Mondays AND Wednesdays, compared to our other class offerings that are either Monday or Wednesday.

In order to ensure that our high-quality enrichment classes are accessible to all families, Minneapolis Community Education is now offering fees on a sliding scale. We're moving to a sliding scale model for program fees so our youth programs can be financially sustainable and more equitable. The different prices reflect the average cost of offering a class as well as discounted options and options that help us cover our administrative costs. Fees cover instructor pay, class supplies, program materials, marketing and scholarships. The actual cost of the class is the first listed however, families are asked to pick the price that they are able to pay. As always, we will continue to offer full scholarships upon request. When families participate as they are able, in all levels of our sliding scale, the whole program becomes self-sustaining. Thank you for your consideration as you sign up for youth programs!

Minneapolis Community Education offers inclusive services to support children with various physical, behavioral and social emotional needs. If you are uncertain if your after school program is a fit for your student or, if you would like to explore reasonable accommodations that Community Education could offer, please reach out to your Community Education Coordinator. Our Inclusion Team, along with families and school staff, can meet to explore ways to support your student’s participation. Please note this process can take up to 30 days due to its individualized nature. We look forward to working with you and your family!
