  • ALC Justice PAGE Turners (Justice Page)

    Do you love reading? Have you always been curious about the process of making comics and graphic novels? This is the class for you! We need your help reviewing books that could be part of Minneapolis Public Schools’ ELA classes. Even more, you will be paid $25 for each book you read and review. That's free money just for sharing your thoughts! The books range from fiction to nonfiction, novel to graphic novel, and you'll get to decide which ones should be used in your classes. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to learn about the process of making comics and graphic novels while creating your own. All levels of artistic prowess are welcome. Just bring your creative brain and love of books. Be ready to learn new things and earn a little bit of cash in the process! This class is lead by Mr. Shane!
  • GEMS and GISE - Stem Academy ALC (Justice Page)

    The GEMS-GISE-STEM Academies are after-school and summer school STEM programs designed specifically for Minneapolis Public School District students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. The programs focus on explorations of science and mathematics through project-based and problem-based learning experiences promoting the integration of engineering and technology concepts, content, and process. Students that participate in GEMS-GISE enroll in a year-long after-school program that is comprised of two semester courses with an opportunity to continue learning in the six week summer K-8 STEM Academy. Fall 2024- Robotics In this dynamic robotics class, students will explore mechanical design, construction, programming, and teamwork skills. Working in pairs with LEGO building elements, motors, and sensors, they will build various robot prototypes. Student will program these robots to move, react, and make sounds, applying their skills to solve design challenges using LEGO SPIKE Prime robotic systems. The class will culminate in participation in the 2025 FIRST LEGO League Challenge SUBMERGED℠ on January 25, 2025. In the SUBMERGED℠ Challenge, students and their LEGO team will harness creativity, critical thinking, and technology to explore the ocean's depths, surfacing their discoveries and innovative ideas. Beneath the surface of the ocean lies one of the planet's most complex and vibrant ecosystems, streaming with life and brimming with opportunities for exploration and learning. Each organism plays a crucial role in maintaining a thriving environment. Along the way, students will discover our collective potential to strengthen communities and drive innovation for a healthier, more sustainable world with thriving oceans. Spring 2025 – Force & Motion: STEM of Speed Explore Science and Engineering! In these engaging and investigative classes students are immersed in the fundamentals of aerospace engineering and rocketry through an interactive problem-based approach. Working in pairs, students solve a series of complex problems designing, constructing and testing a variety of aircraft. GEMS-GISE-STEM students conduct hands-on investigations exploring aerospace engineering and related career fields. Students explore this specialized field that includes the design of spacecraft and aircraft. Discovering that air (navigating within the earth's atmosphere) and spacecraft (operating primarily in outer space, beyond the earth's atmosphere) are technologies that extend human potential to transport people and goods. Students work and learn through exciting, project-based aerospace engineering activities designing, construction, testing, and troubleshooting as they work toward their final flight.
  • Justice Green Team (Justice Page)

    Do you want an opportunity to make the world a better place? Do you want to get your hands dirty (and get out of class from time to time to do it)? Are you interested in hearing from people in our community that make positive environmental and social changes? Like pizza and snacks? If you said yes to any of these questions, consider joining our school club! The Green Team at Justice Page is a group of students who are working together to make our world a better place. We collaborate to find and implement solutions that are environmentally friendly through advocacy, education, and action. We will get our hands dirty and take field trips exploring and learning along the way. The Green Team is a fun way to learn more about environmental issues, and sustainability, and work with other students who share a passion for making our school and community a great place to live! Students will have a voice and choice in what we focus on. This class will be FUN and make an IMPACT! Pizza and snacks are a bonus to this class.

    Math Prodigies (Justice Page)

    Need help with Math? This is the class for you. Ms. Novak will work with you and with small groups to understand and complete Math work. Gain confidence in asking and answering math questions and gain a better understanding of concepts being taught in your classes. You will also play ST Math, Prodigy, and other math games to build on what you know.

    Math and Movement (Justice Page)

    Need help with Math? This is the class for you. Ms. Novak will work with you and small groups to understand and complete Math work. Gain confidence in asking and answering math questions. You will also play ST Math and Prodigy, and other math games to build on what you know. The second half of Math and Movement will be spent moving your body doing circuit workouts, meditation, and other games in the gym.

    Registration for the musical is open to current Justice Page students As part of the cast, Justice Page students will bring the Story of Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical JR. to life through singing, dancing, and acting! About the Musical: Rebellion is nigh in Matilda JR., a gleefully witty ode to the the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the "revolting children" who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson. Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence... and special powers! She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace! Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs, Matilda JR.is a joyous girl power romp. Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination. Cast Commitment: Practices will be Monday-Thursday, 3:25 - 5:30, starting on Tuesday, January 7 - Monday, March,10. All cast members should plan to attend each day for the first week or two and the last 2 weeks, in addition to attending 2-4 days a week as scheduled. If a student is not scheduled they have a rest day and do not need to attend. The schedule will be provided during the first week with the understanding that things may be adjusted. All cast members should be able to attend all the public performance dates and their scheduled rehearsals. Students enrolled in Debate, Math, Green Team, Justice Pages, and Yearbook are welcome to attend those classes if they do not have to be at rehearsal. Students are expected to participate, follow directions, be in assigned spaces, and attend scheduled practices. Students who are unable to commit to this may be removed from their role or cast. Rehearsals: Tuesday, January 7, 2025 – Friday March 7, 2025 3:25 PM - 5:30 PM Depending on the role, students will be asked to attend rehearsal 2-4 days a week. Public Performances: Friday March 7, 2025 at 7:00pm - Students stay after school, rehearsal, and dinner before the performance. Saturday March 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM and 7:00PM - Students arrive at 12:30 and 5:30 to prepare for the performances. Strike and Celebration: Afterschool on Monday, March, 10. There are a limited number of roles for the musical. We anticipate more interested students than we will be able to cast. When you register it will say "waitlist". All waitlist students will audition. If your student is cast a role they will move off the waitlist. If your student is not cast in a role they will remain on the waitlist and can join crew, another class, or be contacted if a role needs to be filled. DEADLINE TO REGISTER to audition for the cast is Wednesday, December 4. Please make sure you click all the way through the waitlist registration. Auditions to determine casting will be held the week of December 9, 2024. We will email the cast list by Friday, December 20. Audition materials are on the JPMS webpage. 8th grade students will audition on Monday December 9, 2024 7th grade students audition on, Tuesday 10, 2024 6th-grade students audition on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 Call backs December 16th and 17th Cast list and script distribution, December 19 and 20th.
