    This is a separating class (child and parent spend time together and apart). How can parents be antiracist - as defined by Dr. Ibram X. Kendi - raise antiracist children, and together grow into becoming interrupters and dismantlers of systemic racism? Parents will learn how race identity is formed; how to proactively start and sustain developmentally appropriate conversations about race, racism, and racial justice. Parents will discuss how racism impacts their parenting and learn strategies to do the inner-work required to sustain them on the journey of implementing antiracist principles and actions in their parenting role. We will focus on learning how to both read your toddler's emotional needs and help them successfully manage these emotions.     This is a non-separating class (child and parent together for entire class). Children and parents enjoy time together singing, playing and learning. During parent discussion time, the early childhood staff engage the children in planned activities while parents gather nearby, in the same room. Parent topics include child development, guiding behavior, sleep and nutrition in addition to parent joys and concerns.
