Join us for a space to engage with your young Black/Brown child with child friendly activities to do together; while connecting with other caregivers about parenting and how it's different when raising Black and Brown children. We welcome East African families whose children have an IEP, children whose parents have a concern and their siblings to join us in playing and learning together. Parents discuss various topics as decided by the group about their children's development. We also discuss how to improve cultural barrier of East African Children who have special needs. Discussion topics include traditional American Indian caregiving practices, navigating the MPS school district, honoring family routines and traditions, and supporting your child’s development. This is a separating class (parents and children spend time together and apart.) This class, in partnership with Early Childhood Special Education, will explore social communication skills, strategies, and more. Families will learn more about the autism community, resources and supports in the metro area. This is a class for families with children who have been diagnosed with autism or who are in the process of receiving a diagnosis and who would like to learn meaningful ways to encourage their child’s social and communication development. This is an online Parent/Caregiver Only class. This class is an online offering for parents/caregivers with children birth to 3rd grade that are in the process or have an Autism diagnosis. We will be collaborating with an ECSE Autism specialist and led by an ECFE Parent Educator with specialization in Autism. We will be honoring and respecting the neurodivergent community. Discussion will include but not limited to self-regulations, building relationships, meltdowns, picky eating and keeping your child safe.
