Minneapolis Kids provides year-round, fee-based school-age care for families with youth enrolled in High Five/Minneapolis Kids Jr through 6th grade during the school year (entering K-7 during the summer).

Tai Chi is a simple traditional Chinese practice that uses inner strength or "Qi" to feel better. Learn the "form", which is a continuous sequence of postures practiced in a slow, gentle manner, to improve blood circulation, balance, and your overall health. Instruction is designed for people of all ages and physical abilities. No special clothes or mats are needed.
Howard Root is a lifelong resident of the Twin Cities as well as being an advocate and proponent of lifelong learning. After 35 years of employment with the Minneapolis Public Schools he retired from his position as Community Education Specialist in 2009, but has continued to teach enrichment classes to adults in the areas of Qi Gong, Tai Chi, and Genealogy: "Climbing your family tree". He is certified to lead the Fit and Strong exercise program developed by RSVP Senior Corps and the University of Illinois. He also teaches chess, rocketry and youth service/youth development to Minneapolis youth. Mr. Root received his master’s degree in adult education at the University of Minnesota. Mr. Root studied Tai chi (sun style) and qi gong under the direction of Dr. Russ Smiley at Normandale college, he attended Five Element Academy in St. Paul, Mn.(Certificate of Achievement, 2012). Formerly certified to teach Tai Chi for Arthritis and Tai Chi for Diabetes.
