This two-session class begins at Roosevelt with a discussion about the 1947 classic German film Ehe im Schatten (Marriage in the Shadows) by Kurt Maetzig and starring Paul Klinger and Else Steppat. Week 2 is a trip to see the film at The Heights Theater in Columbia Heights. The 105-minute movie premiered in all four sectors of occupied Berlin on October 3, 1947, and is based on a true story of love and loss, prejudice and pressure during the Nazi era. Previous knowledge of German language and culture is welcome but not required; the film has English subtitles. The movie ticket price is included in registration. Carpooling will be encouraged, plan to arrive at Roosevelt by 6pm on November 10th only (class on Nov. 3 is from 6:30-8:15pm).
This class is priced on a sliding fee scale. Please pay the price you are able. This helps to ensure that Community Education can provide quality opportunities for all of our participants.
