Minneapolis Public Schools

In this robotics class, students will explore mechanical design, construction, programming, and teamwork skills. Working in pairs with LEGO building elements, motors, and sensors, they will build various robot prototypes. Students will program these robots to move, react, and make sounds, applying their skills to solve design challenges using LEGO SPIKE Essential & Prime robotic systems. The class will culminate in participation in the FIRST LEGO League Challenge, where students and their LEGO team will harness creativity, critical thinking, and technology to explore this season’s challenge. Teams are challenged to combine the thrill of archaeology with the power of technology.

Please note a snack fee is built into the prices of all Extended Learning classes. All students will be offered a snack regardless of ability to pay.

**This class is in an Extended Learning class after school must have a Continuous Learning Plan (CLP) that will need to be signed by a Parent/Guardian and returned. Your child's after school teacher will send this form home with your child the first week of class.

This class begins on October 6th and ends on January 23rd (12 weeks).  

The deadline for after school transportation requests to start the first day is September 19th.

Trabajando en parejas con elementos de construcción LEGO, motores y sensores, construirán varios prototipos de robots. Los estudiantes programarán estos robots para que se muevan, reaccionen y emitan sonidos, aplicando sus habilidades para resolver desafíos de diseño utilizando los sistemas robóticos LEGO SPIKE Essential y Prime. La clase culminará con la participación en el Desafío FIRST LEGO League, donde los estudiantes y su equipo LEGO aprovecharán la creatividad, el pensamiento crítico y la tecnología para explorar el desafío de esta temporada. Se requiere un Plan de Aprendizaje Continuo (PAC) que un padre/tutor deberá firmar y devolver. El profesor de su hijo/a enviará este formulario a casa durante la primera semana de clases. 

Esta clase comienza el 6 de octubre y termina el 23 de enero (12 semanas). La fecha límite para solicitar el transporte extraescolar es el 19 de septiembre.
