Explore the amazing journey of Eliza Winston and her quest for freedom. Brought to Minnesota by her enslavers in the summer of 1860, Eliza fought for and gained her freedom through a series of remarkable events. Based on research and knowledge of Dr Christopher Lehman and others. We will visit sacred spaces where Eliza demonstrated agency, resistance and resilience against her enslavers. We will learn how this remarkable history connects to us today. And as we learn this history, participants will have the opportunity to make history (to be revealed on tour).
Optional: Participants have the option to purchase a copy of Dr Lehman’s Book, It Took Courage: Eliza Winston’s Quest for Freedom.
