Watch your child's love for nature and reading blossom in this immersive class. We will read award-winning, garden-themed children's literature, from seed-to-plant tales to stories of friendly garden insects. Inspired by our stories, children will participate in hands-on gardening activities, including:

• Planning and planting a garden
• Decorating plant pots and markers
• Journaling and drawing their observations
• Creating a "sunflower house" or "bean teepee"

This class fosters patience, responsibility, and a deeper connection to the natural world. It encourages healthy eating by teaching kids where their food comes from and builds literacy skills through engaging, real-world experience.

Note: Community Education uses a sliding scale model for program fees so our afterschool programs can be financially sustainable and more equitable. Families are asked to pick the price that they are able to pay. By more clearly articulating our lower cost options, we have removed the barrier that some may have felt in making scholarship requests. When families participate at the higher price levels, they help make the program more sustainable. Extended Learning (ALC) classes are free.
