Adult Enrichment Winter 2025
Discuss the joy, benefits and the challenges of keeping chickens in an urban setting. Topics will include but not be limited to: Breeds, Nutrition/Feeds, Housing, Getting Started, Welfare Issues and Bio-Security. Participants will receive a certificate that is accepted by Mpls Animal Control; a prerequisite for issuing a permit to keep chickens. This class will be held on Zoom.

Wayne Martin

Wayne is an Iowa farm boy who moved to Minnesota, but first lived the nomadic life in Colorado, Seattle, Peace Corps in Ecuador, and finally Minneapolis. He was based on the St Paul Campus of UMN starting in 1999, first with the Minnesota Institute for Sustainable Agriculture, then with UMN Extension. His focus areas were smaller scale livestock production, beginning farmers, new immigrant farmers, and urban backyard chicken keepers. He retired from UMN in July 2022
