Minneapolis Public Schools

Whether you consider yourself a beginner or intermediate player, join this club to meet and interact with other chess players in your school and play on a weekly basis. If they are new to the game, players will learn the basic rules and strategies of chess. We will also introduce other popular 2 player and multi-player strategy games beyond chess! Taught by Zach LaVone of Chess & Strategy Games Association.

Please note that some classes are offered free of charge due to funding from grants, federal or state funding, or community partners who are providing classes free to our families. The classes that are not listed as free do have costs for Community Education, including teacher salaries and class supplies. For the classes with costs, please choose the price that works best for your family, knowing that families who can afford to pay more offset the families that need a full scholarship.
