    Join us for a fun and interactive introduction to brewing science and processes, as well as beer styles as you tour the brewery and sample beers at Arbeiter Brewing with Head Brewer Aaron Herman. Topics including malting, mashing, fermentation, conditioning, and packaging will be covered while exploring and learning about the equipment in the production area. Explanations of beer styles will be provided as you sample various beers from the taproom.     Join MPS Community Education on Saturday, December 6 at Mill City Farmers Market to shop the winter market and create your own holiday charcuterie board. We'll meet in the ADM Conference Room at 9:30 AM, then walk through the market with Executive Director Ella Daniels, learning about the market’s vendors and products. Each attendee will receive a handmade charcuterie board and a smorgasbord of locally-sourced meat, cheese, spreads and other snacks. Attendees will also receive market tokens to select a custom item from the farmers market's local farm vendors and food makers. Cost of the class includes new skills and a fully-made charcuterie board with ingredients sourced from local farms and food businesses. Space is limited. Register now to secure your spot!     The metaphor 'school to prison pipeline' refers to minor students who are Black (and other minorities) having zero-tolerance policies imposed on them and then being excessively punished (suspended, expelled, etc.) for behavioral issues, ultimately leading them to the road to incarceration. In this workshop, we will learn, discuss and create new possible policy solutions to dismantle the school to prison pipeline in MN.     Nicollet Island may be most widely known as home to the Grain Belt Beer sign, re-lit in 2017. But the island's greatest claim to fame is as the site of the first bridge anywhere to cross the Mississippi River, in 1865. The following year, a referendum that would have made the island a public park failed. Instead the island developed as a microcosm of the city, with its own industrial, commercial and residential zones. Then in the 1970s and 1980s, the city succeeded in making much of the island into parkland after all. The tour takes in the entire 40-acre island, from the south tip overlooking St. Anthony Falls to the intact 19th century neighborhood at the north tip. Meet at . NOTE: This tour is @ 1 mile. You’ll soon be ready to play a game, while our instructors offer tips and cheers of encouragement. Curling offers long-term enjoyment no matter the age, fitness level, or athletic ability. It provides regular physical exercise, a chance to exercise your brain, and social engagement. It involves a great deal of camaraderie both on and off the ice. For those with mobility constraints, we can offer stick curling as an alternative to lunging or bending the knees. The four-part course will be held on Wednesdays for two hours.   • Lost Souls Cave Tour (Southwest)

    A special Cave Tour that focuses on the Haunted events that still occurs at the caves. Recently declared as Winner of the Most Haunted Place in Minnesota by Star Tribune. The tour guide will be a haunted character, but the tour is not intended to be frightening. It all started during the 1930's with the unsolved gangland murder at the casino. Some believe the caves are haunted by the murdered mobsters whose bodies were never found. Haunted happenings have taken place ever since. We have so many stories, we can’t fit them into 1 hour. We have selected our best stories and conclude the tour with a slide show! Bring your cameras. Caves are handicap accessible with ramps and bathrooms. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your event. Transportation is on your own. The Wabasha Street Caves are located at 215 Wabasha Street in St. Paul, MN. NOTE: If this lot is full there is another lot available next door at Health Partners. (205 Wabasha Ave. S. - Enter on Plato Blvd.) The Gift Shop with bathroom located right outside cave entrance may be open before the tour but not after. Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!   • Minneapolis Water Treatment & Distribution Tour (Southwest)

    Where does our drinking water come from? Sift through the process that takes fresh water from the Mississippi river and propels 57 million gallons of safe drinking water per day to all of Minneapolis. This mighty filtration and treatment process is state-of-the art and takes place at the City's Public Works Water Treatment & Distribution facility in Northeast Minneapolis located at 4100 Marshall St. NE, Minneapolis, MN 55421. PLEASE NOTE: * Carpooling is encouraged * You will need to have government ID to show security gate. * Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of your tour to allow time to get through security and to the meeting room. * Comfortable shoes are highly recommended.
