Fall 2025- Our young bird explorers will dive into stories, songs, and colorful books all about Minnesota’s feathered friends! Students will draw, label, and scribble in their own little “bird journals” as they learn to spot chickadees, finches, and other autumn visitors. We’ll create bright feather prints, cozy collage nests, and splashy watercolor birds inspired by what we read. They’ll learn to identify common Minnesota birds by color, shape, and sound while practicing labeling, drawing, and descriptive writing. Art projects may include feather-print painting, collage nests, watercolor finches and more. Early in the year, we focus on building curiosity, vocabulary, and confidence as young readers and artists.

Winter 2026- Students will become mini scientists as they compare cardinals, owls, and jays while building their vocabulary using informational stories, picture books, and kid-friendly research routines strengthening comprehension and critical thinking. Our art tables will come alive with soft chalk-pastel owls, cheerful cardinal puppets, and fluffy winter habitats. It’s the perfect mix of creativity, learning, and cozy winter magic!

Spring 2025- Spring brings sunshine and so many new birds to explore! Students will enjoy sweet springtime stories, rhyming read alouds, and simple writing prompts as they learn about nests, eggs, and migrating songbirds. Art projects will bloom with nature-made nests, bright robin paintings, and colorful bird masks ready for pretend play. It’s a happy, hands-on season that celebrates reading, creativity, and the excitement of spring!
